The first time I stayed at a bed & breakfast was when my wife and I went on our first anniversary vacation weekend. We knew we wanted seem away, we just were not sure where or anything you wanted to do.
A colleague of hers showed her a book of bed & breakfasts’ around the United Conditions. She brought the book home to me to take a look to see what I thought about going to one of these for our anniversary. With zero experience (at the time) and zero knowing of bed & breakfasts’ I thought i was a bit skeptical. Do i really want to spend my weekend staying in someone’s home?
The more I read about the bed & breakfast lifestyle, the more I came to be intrigued, until finally my partner got hooked and we booked a bed & breakfast in upstate Vermont. I can honestly say it was a great time. The bed & breakfast owners treated us like royalty, waited on us like we were a king and queen, and the (that was included in purchase price) was simply unbelievable.
Since then my niece and I are usually to two other bed & breakfasts, one in Williamsburg, VA and another in upstate Nyc near Seneca Body of water. Although the concept every single bed & breakfast were similar, these different in a variety of ways. For instance in Vermont at breakfast and dinner (both that were included) we sat at our table in the adjoining restaurant. In NY and VA we ate a significant table with most of the other guests. In VA the owners took care of everything, well them and their kids. In NY and VT the owners ran the place but also had help to get rooms ready whilst the place fully clean. In VT we had our own outside entrance to our room as should the room was our very own house. In NY and VA you would your own bedroom in the same house with the additional guests.
Regardless of whichever style you choose, if you have never stayed at a bed & breakfast you should. Each one was wonderful and you really felt familiar were part among the owner’s family a person stayed there.
I would recommend first pick a point where you know you would really like to stay. Anyone like the mountains? How about the sun or a tropical island? Once you recognize what you truly want to do, take a look up the bed & breakfasts their areas that you might have targeted and start reading up with them. Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other book stores have a wide array of books you can try without purchasing to obtain this information. You can even go to your local library or look for your bed & breakfast directory online.
Once you are supported by the location and contain it narrowed down to a single or two possible bed & breakfast choices, start pricing them out and find if they have been your budget. I will tell you that very good a bit pricier then a normal hotel room (some of them anyway). However verify what sort of amenities you get for your the cost. Most come with breakfast, otherwise end up being just be called Bed & go outside of my house in the day time. You get the level. Some also serve dinner and offer afternoon tea & something to eat. Find out what you receive for your money. It will definitely benefit your decision.
